Region's First Research Platform for AI in Design Innovation
Technology innovation can greatly enhance the design of products and services. Today, artificial intelligence (AI) integrated with data science on human aesthetics and behaviour, is empowering the transformation of many industries such as fashion, healthcare, manufacturing and retail to customise experiences and products for consumers.
The Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence in Design (AiDLab) mission is to uncover knowledge and methods based on scientific principles that can lead to innovative designs, novel processes and creative products. Our experts apply cutting edge technologies to address industry demands for efficiency, automation and customisation of products and services. AiDLab is the global leader in interdisciplinary AI and design innovations. Our leading research creates a positive impact on the global design industry, contribute to the wider economy, and improves the quality of life.
AiDLab will leverage Hong Kong’s role as a leading creative hub to build a bridge between local and international research in AI and design, accessing global talent, industry networks and resources. The thematic research programmes at AiDLab include:
- Ergonomic and Inclusive Design, which deploys AI technologies to develop innovative body measurement and posture correction solutions to advance fashion design and wearables for health and well-being.
- Innovation in Product and Service Design, which focuses on participative, user-centred design research employing co-design methodologies to contribute to the continuous and iterative evolution of AI creative systems. The research programme incorporates machine and self- learning systems to accelerate design processes for products and services.
- Intelligent Fashion Design and Quality Control, which explores algorithmic design that integrates machine intelligence and human knowledge with respect to fashion and textiles, leading to advances in design, quality control and manufacturing processes.
